Carbon Steel shaped into circular format for various applications
Carbon Steel shaped into springs for commercial applications
Easily Fabricated and Good Strength Carbon Steel Wire at Low Cost.
Carbon steel wire is generally used in undemanding environments or is plated before or after forming to improve its corrosion resistance.
Low Carbon Steel Wire (mild steel wire)
The carbon content of low carbon steel wire is less than 0.18% Can only be hardened by cold working the steel wire because the carbon content is too low. However, low carbon steel wire is available in a range of tempers.
High Carbon Steel Wire (spring steel wire)
The carbon content of high carbon steel wire ranges from 0.35% to 1.0%.
Very high tensile high carbon steel wire can be produced from severe cold drawing. However, this can only be achieved with a very fine grain structure so the high carbon steel wire must be patented (controlled cooling) at the rod coil stage.
The highest grades of this wire are called Music or Piano wire.
